Helping you on the path to employment

We offer 5 employability services specifically designed to help French-speaking job seekers find and maintain employment. Each program helps you develop critical employability skills such as how to write a résumé and prepare a cover letter. You also learn techniques that will help you succeed your job interview and refine your job search. CDEM also offers a variety of workshops. These vary according to the needs of our clients.

Emploi pour tous

Emploi pour Tous
Our job-search assistance program is geared to permanent residents over the age of 30 looking for work. We help clients build a solid résumé, write a cover letter and prepare for a job interview. We also show you how to refine your job search and put you in contact with potential employers. You won't want to miss Espace Emploi. Our career fair attracts job seekers and employers looking to hire employees for a wide variety of jobs.

Eligibility criteria

  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents, refugees, asylum seekers or university students*
  • Ability to speak French
  • Looking for work

Destination Emploi

Destination Emploi
During this nine-week training session (four weeks of theory and a five-week practicum) participants receive a minimum wage. Here, you learn not only how to build a résumé but also how to prepare for the job market. You learn about workplace etiquette, how to interview well, and how to be a model employee. You also take part in all sorts of workshops, for example, a work safety training session led by Safe Workers of Tomorrow and financial management sessions. In addition, you'll do mock job interviews with people from outside CDEM in order to be better prepared.

Those who complete the program go on to find a job themselves. The program boasts a success rate of over 85%!

Eligibility criteria

  • Ability to speak French
  • Unemployed or working on average less than 20 hours/week
  • Not currently enrolled in a secondary, university, or college-level program
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident status
  • Not currently receiving Employment Insurance benefits
  • Availability for training from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday

Adapted Services

Adapted Services
This personally tailored employability service is for people who have difficulty performing daily tasks and working independently. The program consists of eight weeks of work experience paid at minimum wage. Clients receive job-shadowing services to help them integrate into their workplace.

Eligibility criteria

  • Ability to speak French
  • 15 years old or over
  • Dealing with one or more obstacles to employability
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
  • Not currently receiving Employment Insurance benefits

Pre-departure services

Resume writing, job search assistance, and workshops that help newcomers better understand the Canadian work culture, those are just some of the services that are offered to newcomers and permanent residents before they arrive in Canada. These services are meant to help you be more proactive in your search for employment once you land in Canada.

Espace Emploi - Job Fair

Our job fair Espace Emploi offers job seekers up to 5 interviews with employers looking for workers. The interviews are conducetd in a speed dating fashion with potential employers that are carefully selected by CDEM to give participants the best possible chance of finding jobs that match their skills set. CDEM holds its job fairs twice a year, one in the spring, the other in the fall. See more details

  • 15 years of age or more
  • Have a social insurance number
  • Manitoba resident
  • Actively looking for work
  • Speak French

The criteria differ from one program to the other and certain programs may have stronger requirements.



Clients of CDEM can follow a variety of our different workshops given either by CDEM employability specialists or other trainers. The workshops prepare our clients to undertake a sucesssful job search and find one that matches their skills.

Preparation for your job search

Learn how to write a strong resume and a cover letter that will make you stand out. CDEM's employment counsellors also teach interview techniques and help you throughout your job search.


Depending on the job you are looking for, we offer free workshops that allow you to obtain first aid and food handling certificates, as well as a certificate for the sale of alcohol in Manitoba (Smart Choices). We also offer the certification needed to work in construction, and training regarding the Hazardous Products Act and the hazardous products toys regulations.

Canadian work culture

This workshop is for new newcomers to Canada who want to know more about the Canadian work ethic and the work culture in order to integrate workforce as smoothly as possible.
